Lisa Westlake is a physiotherapist and fitness instructor and a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association Women’s Health Group.  She was awarded Australian fitness leader of the year in 2000, Australian fitness presenter of the year in 2003 and Australian fitness author of the year in 2009.

Lisa shares 20 years of experience in exercise for pre and post natal women in this informative, inspiring and interactive day that will answer all your questions about providing fitness programs and advice for women in the child bearing year and allow you to confidently include pregnant women and new mums into your classes and one on one training.

 

· Develop a sound understanding of the physiological and emotional changes that occur during pregnancy and early motherhood

· Become aware of what is safe exercise during pregnancy and why we need to modify

· Consider the benefits of safe exercise for mother and baby

· Identify safe exercise programming and class modifications for women during different stages of their pregnancy

· Discuss possible pregnancy related conditions and identify appropriate exercise modifications

· Know when, and for whom, exercise is contraindicated

· Recognise when to refer for further assessment

· Understand important dos and don’ts of pre and post natal exercise

· Develop a range of exercises for general fitness as well as pregnancy specifics such as pelvic floor, core, posture and more

· Consider other important elements such as labour preparation

· Participate in a pre and post natal exercise class

· Workshop pre and post natal exercise programming

· Ask questions, clarify concerns and debunk myths
